Questions about other stuff

Is Sgt Peeks really a Sgt?
Can you recommend…?

pawIs Doggy & Me Fitness™ a boot camp?

Though we do have our very own Sgt Peeks, the answer is no. To us, ‘boot camp’ connotes a militant class that is suitable for combat training. Fitness boot camps are cool, and there certainly are a lot of them out there, but we’ve taken a fresh and different approach. Our classes are not taught in fatigues or by yelling commands. We offer a dynamic outdoor exercise program that is suitable for all levels.

paw How do I know Doggy & Me Fitness™ is the right fit for us?

We think you should always be able to ‘try before you buy.’ We offer a free trial class to all newcomers. This way, you can get to know the instructor, the other participants, and the program and then decide if Doggy & Me Fitness™ is the right fit for you.

pawWhat exactly does the cost of the program include?

The program includes six weeks of fitness instruction for you and your dog. You gain access to our resources such as nutritional programming, exercise programming outside of class, a list of behavior and healthcare providers for you and your dog, free attendance to any Doggy & Me Fitness™ hosted workshops or special guest events. We are also working to get our participants discounts at a variety of local shops.

pawDoes Doggy & Me Fitness™ do any kind of obedience training?

Apart from giving you and your dog the opportunity to practice the basic Sit, Stay and Down commands, we don’t handle any kind of behavior or obedience training. If you would like to be connected with an expert in this area, we have a list of people we highly recommend. Additionally, each month we host special guests, many of whom are dog trainers.

pawWhat happens if it is raining?

We don’t run classes when it is raining. This is because we don’t think it is safe to exercise when the grass and streets are wet. All classes can be made up due to rain.

pawWhat happens if I have to miss a class?

You can make up any classes you miss within your six-week program.

pawHow should my dog and I prepare for class?

First and foremost you should speak with your physician and veterinarian before beginning this or any new exercise program. It is imperative that you discuss with them the fitness program and any healthcare concerns you have. Then, once you have received clearance to begin the program, we are happy to get you and your pup started.

pawDo I have to keep my dog on leash?

Yes, at all times during class. No exceptions. We take this very seriously. Having your dog off-leash during class is in violation of our policy and we will have to dismiss you from the program.

pawWill my dog and I be able to keep up?

Everyone works out at his or her own level. The class consists of owners and dogs of all sizes, shapes and fitness levels. If you and your dog are beginners, you will have to slowly build up strength and stamina. This is not a competitive environment. It’s about improving you and your dog’s fitness - together.

pawMy dog doesn’t like other dogs. Can we still participate?

If you are asking this question because your dog is aggressive toward other dogs, the answer is no. Instead, we recommend spending your time and money with a dog behavior specialist. We are very protective of our Doggy & Me Fitness™ community and do not accept dogs and owners who are aggressive toward other dogs and owners.

pawI have two dogs. Can I bring both of them?

Both dogs are welcome but each dog must have their own human workout buddy. In this situation, our suggestion is to ask someone you know to join you and work out with one of your dogs. This way, everyone wins!

pawI just got a new puppy! Can we start a Doggy & Me Fitness™ program?

Once your dog is four months old, you can begin our fitness program.
